HOPE: The Unwanted

on my face..chewing dirt..i lie helpless..
bright spots is all i see...my mind drifts...
disoriented... i can't get my bearings...
beyond the forbidden doors lie dead ends...
not good judgment...but darkness beacons...
look what hope did to me wen i failed
it is a disease..a malady...
hallucinating..a pacifier...
they say that hope is imperative..
i say hope is a sedative...
turning senses against action..
a laxative for all the confusion..
once u taste it u crave more..
hope refrains the creative..and shackles the free..
look what hope did to me...

In the Dark

First shot at short story writing....here it goes....

She was bored. The music was pumping. The drinks were flowing. And she was dressed to kill. She stood in front of the bar, running her eyes over the couples slow-dancing. And then she saw him standing in the corner. Usually she was at this place to meet friends, but tonight she was there to have fun.

He was a handsome young man. Recently, his wife divorced him to marry another man. Enraged, he had drowned himself in alcohol. In this delirium, he had decided to put an end to this pain. He decided to kill, symbolizing vengeance that would calm his restless soul. It was the reason he was there, alone.

His reverie was ended by a mellow voice,” Would you like to have a dance?”Moments later she was in his arms. Planning his subsequent moves he bought her a drink. After another couple of drinks, he said” I would like to show you something. Come on.”

He drove as fast as he could. Within minutes they were out of the city, parked alongside the road in the dark. He flung open the door, threw her out. She uttered a scream and resisted with her entire strength, but was overpowered. Barely able to see her, he tore off her clothes, took out a pistol. The sight of it stirred her to action and she kicked him between the legs. The blow made him lose his weapon.

She found the gun, fired out two shots in his direction. Gunshots echoed. Naked and trembling she could barely think. Her eyeballs kept moving at a feverish pace. Her palms now sweaty, she realized that she had a broken leg. Meantime, he moved furtively. He narrowly escaped the bullets. Holding a dagger he skulked without a sound. Now about ten feet away, he waited.

She started limping towards the car keeping a look out. She had barely moved 5 feet, she heard a footstep. She panicked. Literally running, she struggled to maintain balance. Eventually, she lost it and fell on the road. He saw an opening and caught hold of her hand which had the gun. The other held the dagger. His grip was tenacious. He heaved his dagger; she let out a scream for help. They both heard a sound, the last one they ever heard. A moment later a lorry, rammed them. The force crushed both of them. The lorry fled, leaving the bodies in a pool of blood, disfigured beyond recognition telling a gruesome story.

Slaves of Senses.....

Slaved by my senses..dutifully i exist..
life, a boat in a tempest..it just drifts...
Stifled laugh and muffled screams..dreadful of being heard..
soul, a corpse in a coffin..it doesn't want to be disturbed..
Wounds are parasite...they suck all my pain...
when i seek some...nothing..no nothing remains..
Desires are illusions...delusions that don't exist..
conjured by the weakened mind...even my heart cannot resist..
Ravenous greed for carnal delights....and endless vicarious joys..
a vicious cycle of lechery..the one i brought to a still..
Stymied by mirages..i do hesitate..
senses fools me..thralled by my own imagination i retaliate..
Freedom seems distant..feigned foes within me..
wait i will not..obstinate i may be..
shattering these malignant fetters..killing all the demons..
shall i be free.....?? shall i be free ??

The "Rock festival" and the "Tallest building"

The night just before this day, I was uneasy. I was insomniac. Recently, I have this tendency of being uneasy with early mornings. This night was not an exception. Sleep did not come easy. But finally I slipped in the abyss, the still mysterious world for mankind, SLEEP.

Rising early and get going hasn’t been my thing. I indolently snoozed the alarm. Repeated the same thing twice before reluctantly getting out of bed. We got ready and made some breakfast. I hurriedly got on my bicycle and paddled fast to reach school (read univ).DD followed me. We had to reach there by 8:00am and we had not done a bad job, making it on 8:05. Wei made a call about which I was unsure. I gave him a “what was that glance”. He told me we will drive. I guessed we were driving to Dounan train station. But soon I found out that we were going drive all the way to Taipei. If I believe him, driving is faster than taking a train. So we set out on our little trip to THE ROCK FESTIVAL.

I had had mixed emotions about the trip. I was both excited and confused. Excited, as I am music fanatic. Confused because I was not sure how will it be, head banging to a chinka rock song. So it remained kind of mystery.

Back to the day concerned, the day was bright and sunny. The elements of nature finally showed some mercy. The air was filled with a sweet smell from the rain on the previous night. The sunshine was crisp; the sky was blue with white clouds bellowing above and a light breeze made it almost perfect. Our professor’s assistant and her sister were going to Taipei for something and were kind enough to let us join them. The assistant in her late forties and her sister a bit younger than her were quite chirpy. Jimmy, wei and these to ladies kept on saying something and kept laughing. In the meantime, I was busy in absorbing the morning and get ready for the adventure ahead.

The sun and the foamy clouds were casting shadows on the meadows and lush green hills. These were so beautiful look at that I even took a picture. We were on the freeway. The freeways here are like spider webs. They are full of twists, turns, loops of all kind which make the whole journey a roller coaster ride. With green hills, white clouds, well lined houses, some rice plantations in between, the whole journey was pleasant. It reminded me of the scenic beauty of this country. DD told me that the scene reminded him of Guwahati.

Let’s fast forward to the train station. We had to catch a train to get to Fulong, our destination. The train station was amazing and there were help desks all around. Being a Chinese speaking nation, I think it is imperative to have such facility. The station was clean and plenty of English speaking Taiwanese. We got a ticket and got on to the train. Now, this was the first time I found some kind of resemblance with India. The coach was full of music enthusiasts and couples. But one contrasting thing was that nobody was shouting orders to the people sitting to make some room for others. They sat calmly as nobody disturbed them. They got off when they wanted to. In a similar situation in India, the cacophony and the pushing makes it impossible to get out of the coach. But despite the rush we enjoyed the air conditioned coach. We reached Fulong at around 1pm.

The first thing I noticed as we got of the train was bikini babes. :P Well can’t help staring. After some time you get used to them and get blasé. We got your much needed grub, changed and headed for the beach. The build up was huge. The crowd was young and in large numbers. There is a bridge that leads to the beach. The beach is a bay, surrounded by water on three sides. I don’t have words to describe the view. It was awesome. Surrounded by lush green mountains with angel white clouds casting shadows, cool breeze sweeping your hair, fragrance of perfume everywhere it was lovely. The music started late at around 4pm. We had to leave early, dunno why. But I had seen what I had come to experience. The music didn’t appeal that much to me.

I wanted to go to the top of 101. So we made a plan to scale it. When we got to Taipei, we took a metro to 101. After half an hour, we were waiting in the queue with the next lot to go to the top. The wait was exciting. I noticed a few Americans as well. We got on the lift, the fastest elevator in the world. It took us 33 seconds to reach the top. Standing in the elevator you have the same funny feeling in your ears that you get when an aircraft takes off. There we were on the top of the tallest building of the world. The feeling is overwhelming. The first thing I thought was the things that made it possible. My whole life flashed in front of my eyes. I still remember words DD said after we got down, “We should never forget our roots.” Every word of this adage is true. When you watch those tiny buildings, helpless earthlings and toy cars, you feel a sense of power. You feel you have achieved something. But the building reminds you that no success is eternal. The building will not be the tallest by Sep 2009. So it prompts you to carry on the way you have to scale larger heights in future.

The next unique thing we saw was the biggest damper in the world. For the non geeks, damper is the thing that keeps the building stable and from toppling. These guys have adopted a concept of “Damper” babies (little baby cartoons) for merchandising souvenirs. I liked the marketing idea. A great way to make cash without fuss.

The next thing we did was to have dinner and get going. The same to ladies were there to pick us up. On our way back our eyes were treated with yet another beautiful sight. Now before I elaborate, let me tell about freeways in Taiwan. Being a small country, the freeways cut right through the cities. So at night with all the lights the sight is breathtaking. Taichung city, 2nd biggest here, was a beauty. We stopped for a minute. I took two pictures, but in vain. Cameras at night are not the best of the gadgets. The last exciting thing that happened that followed was watching a Lamborghini Gallardo in action. We were driving at 120 Km/hr. At first I was looking the other way. A car, jet black, was just coming to the other side. It was as if the driver was brandishing his car. The next moment, the Beast roared and took off. We were too slow for one of the fastest production car in the world. Within 5-8 seconds it was gone, just like that. Then came the crazy Benz driver. He overtook us and then slowed down to go back again he repeated it twice and disappeared. Those were the last few moments of excitement for us. The day was awesome and full of thrills.

Solo...

Unnamed I am, I am young
calling me what they want, I gotta run
Work is all i do, I cannot read
serving lots of people, it me who i cannot feed
Innocent eyes cry, i live ignorant
no bed, no pillow, no fan, but i have to sleep
Lonesome days, i have no friends
no one share, no one to give me presents
Orphan since I know, I am on my own
no one to comfort me, no one to hold my arm
Weeping in a corner, I feel dejected
always ridiculed, why god, I am rejected
Smoke a cigarette,he said , I protested
down came a rod, struck me, everything went red
Master of all stays numb, I do pray
give me strength, give me power or take me away
Cherishing the sky , the stars make me wonder
are they pieces of glass, a mystery I can't figure
Bathing under a tap, I love it cold
soaking all the pain, droplets in sun, shine like gold
Music is for soul, its in nature everywhere
rattle of dishes, tip tap of drops, all i hear is clamor
Waiting for emancipation, I lay here,
is there someone there, who do you fear

Help them if you can....

One...

Stars, they shone like gems,
reminded me of, a firing gun.
moon was crescent, glittering as silver,
stabbed to red was lyf with sharp dagger.
the night was dark, the wind was cool,
there they swam, the red pool was full.
tell me..
please speak to me...
put my restless heart to a still,
why do they do it,
what for they kill,
divide us all,
answer me..can we end it still ?
they have no shame, and have no pride,
beastly carnal pleasure is on what they thrive.
AS I watch night sky above, rationale seems blur,
drifting into the silence their cries go mum.
do we ignore or are we dumb,
join hands, stay not numb,
lets break the void, and cry it out loud,
lets join our hands and lets fight as one.

free your heart say no to violence.........

India...is it a country.....??

When I read the newspapers, when I watch a news channel, the very immediate question comes to my mind is.. Is India still a country ? With all the hatred and materialistic divisions, is India still a secular state which it claims to be ? People fighting over water, names of state, land, food. Is this is the India over forefathers fought for? Are we succumbing to the whims of our so called leaders ?

India has had a glorious past. It has begotten some of the most diverse and richest cultures. These civilizations matured in India and spread across the world. India has witnessed all these cultures living in harmony and flourishing. But in the recent past, some of the ugliest incidents deprecating the very foundation of our constitution, have occurred. Indian constitution grants the freedom of speech but not the freedom to stop trains and play with lives of innocent people. Why don't these fuck get the treatment they deserve ? Shoot these fucks on sight. Is law enforcement such a difficult issue ? Is the government of India so helpless against such an open denigration of our constitution.

Reservation, what is reservation ?It is the tool used by a political party to appease some selfish and fawning assholes. These people do not give a shit to the magnitude of effect of policies like these. India is already battling to stay a united nation(this is also because of some motherfuckers), they are just adding fuel to the fire. The country is being divided in the name of religion and reservation.

Why don't these people understand that nothing good is going to come out of this. Reservation will further create chunks of people fighting amongst each other for trivial thing like seat in a bus. A day will come, when there will be quotas for getting to pee in public toilet.

Yesterday I heard that there was curfew had to placed after communal violence. Why do people fight on the grounds of religion ? Why don't they worship one god..our very own mother India..?
It is really sad to hear news like these and people engaging in vandalism for such stupid reasons.

I do not oppose reservation, but rather than imposing reservation in premier institution, which have highlighted India on the global scenario, it should be imposed on primary schools. That will give the so called "SC and ST", better opportunities to compete with the rest. And if they do not perform at this level, then get the fuck out. People may get admissions to the premier institutions, but they will never be able to value them. They will not be able to appreciate the efforts of people who never had crutches of reservation to get them in. Reservation now a days is like aristocracy. You got to be born in 'a' family to enjoy it. Why do they need reservation if they have what it takes. These people want reservations only to get jobs. They do not want education. They want the government to feed them and sadly the government of India has been doing the same.Let us not allow these people to get away... lets fight....lets fight against reservation.....lets fight against division of our motherland......lets fight for better India...lets fight for a better FUTURE..

Comedy of errors....

We were just packing up. Just then I heard a little knock on the door. Both of us turned. Who could it be? The whole lab was deserted. We decided to have a look. It was Wei...our friend Wei from the next door lab. We often have these long conversations at night when we got bored by the monotonous job we have. By we I mean Me, Dipto, Wei and Super Dang....yeah this is wat they call him...his self assumed english name.

Today there was no Super Dang. I particularly missed him because he was the better of the two Taiwanese when it came to English. We had one of our long talks. The topic is mostly..how to get to this..how to get a train ticket....blah blah...

I whispered to Dipto " Dude, lets go home. I'm kinda hungry". So we did our goodnights with whatever souls left and mounted on our bicycles completely unaware of what lies ahead in the next few moments. The road was dark and abandoned as usual. Although it was 12:40, earlier than our usual time of return, it was still spooky. I always feel a little chilly when the light next to the guard room automatically lights up when I enter the main gate. On the first day, I just jumped. We reached our house or the building. Standing in front of the backdoor, we locked up our bicycles and I reached the front door to unlock it. Here is where all the fun begins.

Before we begin, lets rewind. I had arrived a bit late for the internship. Mr. Dipto has lived here for quite a while now. Once he left the key inside and locked the door. Now that is careless, but can happen to anyone and was just a small mistake.

The savior was the lady, supposedly the house keeper or whatever. Now she is a strange character in herself. Short about 5feet 2" may be with a evenly frame. She is my idea of athletic granny. The people in Taiwan seem to have some kind of secret. You just cannot guess there age correctly. She might be in her late 40's or early 50's I guess. Now to why I call this lady strange. She lives opposite to our room, I mean when she is there. I have seen her only once before yesterday. I don't know but some afternoons I hear some kind of musical instruments play, like the one's in Japanese sad melodramas. She comes and leave without a trace.

Just a week ago, we had borrowed bikes or bicycles from our friends,Super Dang and Wei. We usually kept both cycles inside our rooms. We entered them through the back door. I always make it a point not to leave any of the doors unlocked whenever no one is inside. So I leave the standing next to the back door went to the front door to unlock it. I get in and unlock the back door from inside. It is the always the same exercise even when I leave for the lab.

One last thing before we proceed, door locking in Taiwan is pretty different from that in India without all the heavy locks. It is always self lock. A locked door in Taiwan can be opened in two cases. One, if someone opens it from inside. Case two, if you use your key to unlock it. The front door has a latch like we have in India for added safety. Whenever we are in we keep it locked and latched. The housekeeper lady gave us only one key and that is for the front door. All the doors have same kind of lock and unlock system that I explained. So if you accidentally lock the bathroom, it stays lock.

Now lets go ahead. I reached the front door while Dipto decided to stay there at the back door waiting for me to open the door from inside. I found my key in the pocket. The corridor leading to the front door was all charcoal black. I could not see a thing. Luckily I have only two keys in my key ring. Both of them absolutely different from each other. I felt both the keys and found the right key. It was all dark and silent. I put it in the key hole, the key turned and I heard a click. I tried to push the door, it did not move. I felt the keys again making sure I had the right key. I even took out my cell phone to see and double check. I put the key again and tried to turn the knob. It turned and clicked again. The door still did not move an inch. I did not understand. Where was I going wrong with this simple and such a trivial thing. This time I turned the knob with a greater force hoping that it had got stuck and a jerk might help. It was all in vain. The door stood there. Puzzled and hungry I started going back to Dipto then standing at the back door to get his key. I marched and thought what was wrong. My mind was not working but stomach was craving for some food. I just wanted to open the fucking door somehow and get in.

Dipto still standing by the back door and frustrated gazed at me. Without wasting time I asked him to hand me his keys. As we started to go back to the front door, I dawned. I remembered that afternoon. I was not imagining...I was right. I remembered clearly as ever, that I double checked on the front door to be latched. It was some subconscious thing that happened without thinking. Now the mystery was solved. The front door was latched from inside. We stood there helpless contemplating our next move. The first thing that I had in my mind was to wake up the housekeeper and ask for the back door key. She is an old lady and it was an odd hour, the clock just ticked 1:00 a.m. But there was no other way. We had to get the key. Dipto took the lead to the door and rang the bell. A short ring, we heard standing outside. No answer. May be the lady was fast asleep. He rang the bell again. No answer. There was no movement. Everything silent as a grave. I then came to the conclusion that either the lady was not there or she took some kind of sleeping pills. In either case, it was useless trying. We thought of our next move. There were two options. Either we went back to the lab and seek help or try to get hold of someone who knew English and then inform the security guard. The first was our last resort. We saved it for the end. We decided on the second one. Luckily, I remembered, there were two guys playing basketball and a couple cuddling in the dark. I hoped for either of them to be still there. Couple was gone but the two guys were still playing. For the moment we skipped them and went ahead to the security. I saw three guys talking to each other. This was it now or never. I accosted them about our problem. First I gave a tired smile and asked them if anyone of them knew English. The tiny one blurted "He" pointing to a fat guy. They looked at each other, then spoke to each other for some time laughing. Then he acknowledge saying " Only a little". That was okay with us. Little or no little we needed someone with Chinese.

I explained them our problem not sure whether they got it or not. I kept asking them did they understand. Although I was using hand signals only still I wanted to make sure they got it. Finally they nodded in unison. To my relief, we started walking to the security. It is a small room with all the feed from the close circuit cameras. The guys sitting in was young and was the same who stared at me last night when I ventured out at 3 a.m. to get something. He later told me that he was just doing patrolling last night.

The fat guy kept on explaining the problem. The man went in and made some phone calls. We were still doubting if the guard has understood the magnitude of our problem. We again asked the fat guy to tell him that we need the back door key and the front door is latched from inside. He again made some calls. After waiting for some time, a man scootered in from the main gate. He took off his headgear and we recognized him as the day time security guide. He was older and grumpy. He got off and came up to us and said something. Thankfully the fat guy took over and explained him the problem. I also enacted him the whole scene. The most important of all I stressed on the latch. I think he understood. He again made a call. In the meantime, I asked both the boys about what was he saying and how did the whole situation look. He said just wait and watch.

The old man hung up and came back. Babbling some more to his colleague he turned to us and said something. I turned to the fat guy. He told me that we had to wait till tomorrow 8 am. The house keeper lady will come and do something. Courteous enough the guard offered us a room to stay in. We thanked and declined the offer saying we can stay overnight at the school( read university). They chatted among themselves for sometime. He made the same offer again but our reply was the same. He again went in to make some call. This time relieved we thought of buying these guys a drink for their help. I asked them if they were busy he told me he had the final test this week but its ok. Just then the old man walked out and all of us looked at him. He was smiling and looked cheerful. The fat guy told us the lady was coming for us right now. Both of us let out a sigh of relief and smiled nervously.

Before the lady arrived, I inquired about how to say sorry in Chinese. He replied " Paichung ". The lady arrived, stopped looked at us, said something to the security guards and went flying in. I asked he guys about her temper then. They told me she was a bit irritated. We thanked the guys and wanted them to come with us. Before I can say something he said " we are going with you. She doesnot know english", almost sensing me. When we reached our place, the back door was already open. The lady was standing with a key. She gave it to me. I took it. She said something waved her hand in air as some kind of gesture and went in smiling. The fat guy said " she said no problem. ". I went inside and bowed my head in an apologizing manner and said the lone chinese word for sorry. She smiled again. We offered the guys a drink. They initially resisted but gave in. We took them to 7-11 Taiwanese concept of supermarket which are open 24x7. We thanked them again and went home laughing about the whole incident. The whole incident seemed funny as we were inside but when we were living in the moment both of us saw a night spent sitting on the lab chairs and nervously laughing at out situation.

It was an adventurous night....out in a country where only a few speak your language. It surely is a night to remember. :) All's well that ends well. :D

Taiwan....finally it happened....:P

Taipei 101

The whole internship thing was a pain in my ass since the beginning. I was hoping to hit it big, like going to Europe or US, but finally managed just a petty country like Taiwan. But now I realize how wrong I was.

After all the medical problems in the beginning( these stones seem to like me...as they keep coming back....this one in particular really didn't want to leave me... :P ) I was finally going to the place of my intern.

My first day in Taiwan was the most fun. There were three guys with me. Names Dipto, Jimi and one more( i still dont know his name :P). We went around Taipei city in our Professor's car. I was dumbstruck when I first saw the car. Not a Audi or Merc but really luxurious. Then when we entered the city, I was left agape. Globalization at its best. McDonalds and KFC's spread around the city. If you ignore the Chinese, the city was no less than a NY. We had a room booked for the night, courtesy our Professor again :P. As soon as we reached the room, I slipped under the blanket and enjoyed 2 hours of sound sleep.

When I woke up, others were ready to go to the famous Taipei night market. We went to the metro station. At first sight you might mistake it to the one in Delhi(I won't say Kolkata...it sucks..). But soon I figured out the difference. The whole place was automatic. The ticket came out as the coins went in. There were ATMs and whole lot more. The train was in awesome condition(looked brand new to me).

The night market was altogether a different world. The place had all kinds of stuff. The first thing we did was to eat. I was apprehensive at first since it was my first meal in Taiwan. I was expecting cockroaches and squids. Although I was not disappointed, I asked my friend to order me something which has four legs and was not a pig. I got a dish which I identified as beef. It was good, if not great. There is a dish called stinky tofu. People here find great pleasure in making foreigners eat it. It surely stinks. But I found the taste to be ok. I was full. These people have big appetite.

Then these guys took us to a drinks shop( fruit drink). These people love drinks. All kind of drinks. They have tons of different fruit drinks. It is difficult to choose one, since I knew nothing about them :P. They handed me a menu with pictures of some drinks and asked me to select one. A strange thing about drinks here is that each drink has something solid at the bottom. They make the whole drink look like one of the jars used in biology labs with some human fetus. Finally, after all the..... imagining the taste, I chose a red one and inquired about the taste. After I had my first sip I realized these people enacted the taste right. When they were doing there little explaining, I thought either they were signaling a cold drink with red chili or a really sour one. Now looking back, I conclude that Jimi, our translator, acted exactly like one of those centershock ads.

After that, we waded through the crowd for a little longer. Saw the clothes section of the market, went to the gaming or fun zone. These guys have really weird games. There is game in which you fish prawns in a small tank of dimensions limited to a mere 2 m* 2 m maximum, and you pay 100$ for one hour of that. Of course you get to eat what you fish. The last part was going to the snake market and the pet market........

Jimi showed us around the city and showed us the metro station(MRT station) and the bus station, the 23 no. gate which we were supposed to use when we want to go back :)...

After the long flight and our long stroll around the city, we finally got to the hotel and I rested in peace..... :P

This was my day one in Taiwan

One thing that should change about KGP....ViVA's in KGP

Before going through the story Professors please read READ Disclaimer and students read NJoy Claimer.

Read Disclaimer: This piece of writing is not intended to hurt anyone. All the character are purely a work of fiction. All names, places and situations that may be familiar to real life are coincidental.

NJoy Claimer: This piece of writing is intended for vengeance. All the characters really exist and are purely a work of the Devil himself. All names places and situation that may be familiar to real life are in fact real. Somebody call the Human Rights Department.

Today I heard one of the funniest or call it the most horrifying ViVa story.
Viva, as always, are one of the black listed ceremonies in the curriculum of an Electrical Engineering Student.
Yeah, it is a ceremony and a painful one. Ever increasing expectations of professors and their never growing sympathy for students render this ceremony meaningless. Ceremony ?? yeah it is a ceremony. The dates for this observance are decided by the Professors: the DARK LORDS of the darkest corners, the most dreaded space in Electrical Engineering Department....place called the Lab.( Mech. walon ke liye..."Bhag le beta agar Ramu ne dekh liya to chat jayega....." :P )

As soon as the dates are out, the preparation to perform this ritual( much like the hindu calender most of the academic calender of KGP remains quite varying ). It is the student who are more enthusiastic of the two parties involved. The students start completing their Lab records, their only hope to beg mercy. They lie, they cheat and they steal. They try and do whatever possible to get everything in order for this absurd chore.
On the judgement day....the day of Armageddon....the Dark Lords themselves descend to the Labs. They all sport that evil smirk on their face, which says... ab aya pakad main...aj teri khair nahi.....

Now I talked to some of my colleagues and asked them about their experiences. We all share the same grievance. The following are some excerpts from the chat: ( Names Changed)

SKD : What are equilibrium points in pendulum ?

Magni ram: 2 points one at theta = 0 and another at theta = pi

SKD : What ? You don't know the answer, Next. Is angle 0 and pi are equilibrium point? How can you say it is ?

Ramu : Sir because net force is zero at that point.

SKD : You mean to say that any point is then equilibrium point. I don't know whether these students are IITians or not ? Next.

Rames : Equilibrium point is that point at which derivative of Potential energy becomes zero.

SKD : You mean to say any fool will say earth is round and you will accept it. Have you understood my question? What are equilibrium points? And you are saying how you can get them. Do you understand English or not ? You don't know the answer next.

Chirkut : Sir, at equilibrium point body will remain in the state of rest until an external disturbance is applied to it. So at angle theta = 0 and theta = 180 degree we have equilibrium points.

SKD: (Now at the peak of his temper) You bloody dumb fellows you don't know anything. I doubt the JEE system of entrance. How could you come here........

Students also say this "executioner", this bald sonofaBi..aa..tch calls them bloody bastards, fools, monkeys, buffaloes, cows, dumbheads.......i mean if you know the abuse this professor has used it. I think we are really nearing that day when the prof will enter the class and say " Wassup dudes....!! You motherF...ers aint do no shit....!! We will today read some shit written by Newton. Now he was a crazy sonofabitch. He did some crazy shit...."...blah blah blah. I hope that day doesn't come....ever.....

Another kind of mental torture used by some of the professors goes like this. As soon as the ritual starts, i mean as the students sit down...the professor gets up and starts stalking the students from behind.....which reminds me of the great ICON "GABBAR Singh"....it feels like the Prof. has a whip in this hand ready to inflict pain as soon as the servant says something wrong......

Another incident cites the Professor commenting " You guys are like dumb Cows basking in the sun, wallowing in the mud. And we try to take you out of there but you don't want to leave the place ".

In the end it doesn't even matter. This is the worst part. Whether you know or you don't it really doesn't make ne difference. It all boils down to that one sitting. You either make it or you break it..(who am i kidding...or you get fucked )

This whole thing reminds me one of my friends status message on the day he took his VIVA... "When rape is unavoidable it is better to enjoy the experience" - Monica Bellucci

This comment says it all about what we go through. It is not easy out here. But we do love this place. Yo KGP...And three cheers for all my Batti frnds......guys we all deserve the applause......!!!

Be Myself.......

I saw myself yesterday....and today I hate myself.....
the times have changed...........it has been so hard......
swept by tides of time i've come so far......
how do i know who I was.......
may b tomorrow I wont be myself.........

I had hope...........and believed in self..........
the dices rolled.....the fortunes turned.......
as echoes of failure haunt my ears......
How do i know who i can be.....
may b tomorrow I wont be myself......

I now wait.........and seek myself......
the wounds will heal.....they might leave some scars.....
as I waddle through the sands of time...pain doesn't matter.....
How do I know when I'll be........
may be tomorrow I will be myself.......

\/ Thr33......A trip to Hong Kong......!!!!

Lyf will never get better....a treat followed by this trip...the end to this horrible week was unbelievable.........
I still want to relive that nyt.......
First of all let me clear one serious doubt that we did go to Hong Kong but we did not go to Hong Kong..... :))..well u mit think i have gone crazy but Hong Kong is a restaurant in KGP...and a trip to hong kong is among entries at the top of my list of best trips........

What made it so great.....??What is so great about Hong Kong( i'm getting sick of typing Hong Kong so i'll b using the acronym HK )...??

First of all the Thr33 guys are Me, Bahure and Singhal(pOgO)....

The first of all the trip was so great bcoz of the group....the three musketeers or stooges.......the three of us really had hell of a great time........now we went thr on 15th March...which was our hall day(Azad Hall...my hall of residence..we have this Hall Day where we kind of celebrate the culture of the hostel....also it was Pornos bday...(porno....he is one of my wingies and is the GSec Soc & Cult. of our hall...he was "THE LOADED" guy dat day with all the Hall day celebrations)..so we decided to go play pool at HK.....this idea came to pOgOs mind(luv u for the idea) at 6:00pm.....we decided to leave as early as 6:30......

So as we left the sun had already set.....and the darkness grew.....being the hall day ..the hall was illuminated with all kinds of lights and chandeliers.....so the journey started at an extremely well lit place.....now as soon as we left the premises suddenly the light was not as bright as b4...the streets were not as busy as b4...as we traveled further the scene looked a lot different from our campus.....the whole road had no street lights.....the road had forest on either sides and only heavy vehicles were plying on the road with their blinding head lights and deafening horns....two of us(Bahure and me)wer on a rickshaw while pOgO on a bicycle....due to the constant glaring bcoz of headlights pOgO found it difficult to ditch ditches on the road....after sitting on the rickshaw for 20 min bahure spotted a temple named "Gopali Ashram"....arti was underway wen we reached...we decided to stay till the end of it.....and i after more than one year entered the premises of a temple....i am not an atheist but i m not a regular temple visitor...neways we halted and it was the right decision...I really found a lot of satisfaction and peace.....

We carried on from thr....saw a hanger like structure....besides that rest of the journey was all forest and tar black darkness with blinding headlights in our eyes....
well the journey soon came to an end and we reached HK.....now pOgO had told me about HK in his own typical way....he declared his last trip so awesome dat it lured me in this time.....so i had the image of some awesome place with a cool pool table, a bar around the corner and some girls here and there......on our way to HK took some of his AWESOMES back and confessed that "the place is not as good as u r imagining ryt now"....after this warning..more of a heart break....i was prepared for anything.....

As it turned out, HK was an old structure(most in KGP are..)....a 2 storyed building...the ground floor was the bar/restaurant while the first was the pool table and family restaurant....i dont know about the 2nd floor but waiter used to rush down the staircase every now and then......the whole place was not lit properly...as if there was acute power shotage or lack of monetary funds....neways to my relief the place did not smell like alcohol and ciggarate smoke....about my views on the crowd...the crowd was dominantly CHINKA population...no gals wat so ever.....neways being thr with pOgO and Bahure was gr8 enuf....i knew it was gonna b hell of a nyt....and it had just started......!!

About my xperience with pool,i'll say i dont know how to play the damn game.....but i luv the whole setup of a green table, a bulb above and a dark room.....it really feels great.....so the first game was played between the so called experienced pOgO and the pool great (atleast for us) Bahure....now pOgO played 2-3 nice shots...but the difference between the experienced and the amateur soon became evident with pOgO makhauing every other shot.....Bahure cleaned the table with ease....next i played with pOgO and surprisingly won......rest was all play....we played for more than 3 hrs...and we njoyed every bit of it.......it was the best way to spend a friday night...playin pool drinking beer.....being with ur frnds.......it was serene and sterile at the same time it was refreshing....all three of us went into some sort of trance.....and apart from this comforting experience, I beat pOgO...... :))

The Teacher...Red eYe....the Bahure'ssss(notice the ReDeYe)

He is a pretty good player...but was out of touch and out of gas....(now he is kind of a mareej...but get well soon buddy....lukin forward to challenge u soon...seriously mat lena yaar....mujhe kahan khelna ata hai....!!)

The pOgO'ssss....the loser... :)) saale agli baar thoda better kheliyo....makhau.....

The Disciple....the winnnner....me :))(i pocketed that ball)

In between, we also had some great food....now some of the dishes were totally awesome.....

wen we came out it was 11:30....we paid the bill...which was rather high bcoz we made some wrong choices in our order......well the experience was worth it......so the journey to our campus started...but a lot had changed in 3:30 hours....the streets were completely deserted.....there wer no lights......the place looked deserted and haunted......with not a single human being in sight we began our journey to our room....

The rest of the journey is inexplicable...with the silence..the darkness..the music from bahure's phone..the cool breeze..the mist covered fields...the moonlight...it was something special.....The whole road was lyk a gateway to heaven..with a light(street light ofcourse) at the end of the road.....the light was lyk our only hope to escape this darkness....the moon was lyk our savior showing us our way through darkness..leading us to the almighty..... well a bit apocryphal but we felt it......!!

after all this wen we neared our campus we found that the entry gates to hell( to IIT Kgp )were locked...so we decided to give up the rickshaw( some1 suggested me abdicate the rickshaw....in accord with my GRE Preps :))) and walk the rest of our way....we seemed to make no mistake dat day......the decision was really gud one.....unlike other roads this road was well lit but deserted....there was a silence which we rarely experience in KGP....we chatted our way...after all this even pOgO was taking spiritual(philosophical as rectified by pOgO...)things.....now that is somethin....we walked till "Tikka" and sat thr for about 20 mins.....pOgO still spiritual(the correct word is Philosophical as suggested by pOgO himself....)..bahure joined in with some comment "we always seek happiness in anxiety and excitement but the real pleasure lies in the peace of mind and tranquility...." after that everything was spiritual until i had an idea for a gr8 pic....

we walked for another 5mins or so and reached our rooms satisfied and changed men.....we had experienced something gr8 and we wanted for the feeling or the mental state to remain as it was at that point...so bahure slept..i watched "How i met..." and pOgO ka pata nahi( are now i remember pOgO raat main G mara...)....anyways we had a great nyt...one which i would remember throughout my lyf.....DUDE..!!IT WAS AWE..F1_1k1N..Some.......!!(pOgO ishtyle....)

Se7eN....the beginning.........

Sabse Pehle to Bhul Chuk Maaf......if i forget something.....pls feel free to comment and add ur bit to the story......

Now I have been waiting for 2 weeks now to write about the bestest of trips ever.....The one at Shankarpur......The one with the Seven Men who stood the test of time(yeah we really did...!!)...The one where we built a castle.....The one where we (actually I) ate a pomphret (nada did i spell it ryt..??)......The one with the sand castle and pyramid........The one with our own cool game.........now i guess i must save the rest........I forgot one...The one with Mulchand.....( hehehe... kya nick hai...:)) yo porno...the dhulchands...)

Now the whole idea popped up in someones mind (I dont remember who....whoever
he was thnks man....)...Wen the whole trip was being planned I was watching my video lectures at XX ( 2x....double speed yaar....wats on ur mind..:)) )....actually i had an xam on Saturday and I was the only one in the predicament......(lone traveler....on hot desert sand....i swear every minute was like that....) See in the beginning the trip was being planned for the whole weekend.....the plan was to go to Puri and the white sand beaches...may b visit to some of the temples and other local tourist spots.....but bcoz of me the whole trip had to b postponed and was made a one day affair.....

Now let me Introduce the stars of our story.......

Abhay--Smoochy...( we've got another nick for him but it can be a bit graphical...)
Dibyendu--Nada....(Dada Kichhu hobe na.....!!)
Kaustub- KG...( Mulchand....:)) )
Pranav--Porno....(Just Signed in....!!)
Singhal--pOgO...(hehehehehe.....)
Tiwari--tiwari....(beh gaya.......!!)
Vikas--VeaKaRSe....(Humain auNTy Kaun bana diya....??)
and Me ( ab kya Fayda.......)

We were supposed to leave on saturday night......So I found myself being called out for a wing meeting.....everyone had gathered out in the corridor as if they meant business......now after some of the usual 'bhashandbazi' an audience poll was conducted......and to everyones surprise Puri got maximum no. of votes(shankarpur being the loser......thnks to Emili with his crucial vote..the one who never made it....:( ) KG a.k.a. mulchand was really pissed off with the decision....headed straight back to his room he appeared disappointed......now i dont know wat happened after that but after the xam next morning i found the whole plan changed and we were going to Shankarpur.......

The preparation began at a fierce pace as soon as the sun was down.........mulchand( sry kg but achha sound kar raha hai...!!) and I were to get the firewood......now this firewood was idea of the Chef pOgO....he wished to cook(anyone can cook :) )....now I had always heard stories of pOgO being a damn good cook but I had never had a bite of his preparation....so i seriously doubted his skills....thnk god i was proved wrong...varna we would have had to do with just the 'DABs'...Coming bak to the firewood...we got the firewood and returned for a dinner.....I sat in KGs room and we started watching "How I Met Your Mother"...the first time i ever saw it...now i luv it...its Legen....wait for it...Darry.....Weakarse and pOgO got the food......after all the food and firewood collecting.....we went for dinner....(only at our mess :(( )

The part leading upto this point has been kind of boring.....so i should tell u that fun is about to begin.......our ride for the trip...a maruti omni van.was to arrive at 1:00am...but pOgO insisted to get it at 12:30 so that we get to the beach early and have a nice bonfire and a quite sunrise.....so we did the same......but fate had other plans......out of nowhere a thick and depressing mist covered the whole of....i dont know atleast al the roads we were to traverse........the van did come...we were all ready for a great trip.......

the van did come....but we never left.......the mist....the *$@kin mist....the sterile fog covering the area.....just made it impossible for the driver to drive.....so we decided to bail out......we concluded that we could still leave at 3:00 in the morning.....

now it was decided that whoever gets up first would wake up the rest of the gang........I also had an alarm setup for 3:00 am......but it never rang( as far as i know..:) )....nobody came to wake me up.........finally wen i opened my eyes.....i dont recollect who wake me up....but wen i did wake up....it was already 5:30am........we were late but luckily the fog had vanished and we had a beautiful morning with cool breeze sweeping the balcony........i still remember how comforting the wind was.......there was a renewed sense of urgency in our contingent...a guy slapping, kicking and knocking other guys door....other shouting other's name with a lot of curses to get them out of bed.....but i guess all will agree that it was really great getting up that morning.........we got our things together by 6:00 -6:15.....We finally took off at 6:30am.......a long road lies ahead.....!!!!!!! (to be continued......picture abhi baki hai mere dost...:)) )

World Without Music.......a distant imagination... :)

Music.....what is music...?? who discovered it....? when was the first music played.....??? who was the first human being to enjoy music....?? now this shit is getting heavy.....isn't it...:)
On a more serious note, the webster's dictionary defines music as " the art of arranging tones in an orderly sequence so as to produce a unified and continuous composition"....well a more dramatic ,popular and fancy way to define music is "ne sound that reaches the heart and soul of a human being"... it is an art....yeah it truly is ( if u dont feel so, after listening to himesh u will )....and not only the topiwala nasal son *$ b#$ch, but lately a lot of music videos u c on TV are nothin but a rich brat with spare money and craving to dance with half naked chicks crying his testis out of his throat imagining himself as one big rockstar....(guys pls!!! pls don't torture us....if u have xtra money go to a brothel,do a commercial for ur own f#$@in business but pls don't sing and play.....)....even the music channels have gone dumb...playin every shit that comes their way.....i dont say that youngsters should not be given chances....but a certain standard is a must......otherwise some day Om Puri will start singing....and u never know he myt b a big hit....neways 2 much of takin done.....lets get to the point....

Music is like a balm...a bottle of wine(don't have a clue how it tastes but i guess its gud...)...a cool breeze....gentle stream of water.....MUSIC IS MAN.....everything has music built in it....listening to gud music can b as soothing as hot shower....as calming an experience as dipping one's feet in a river or pool.....as baskin on chilly day......lik a bottle of cold water after a long rough day......it is like clear raindrops falling down on your face( now even I am cravin for some of these)

Everyone encounters and enjoys music in his life....it is one frnd that never betrays us....it is with us while dancing to the gud ol tunes at a marriage or a party.......it is with us in ballads.....it is with us in pain....it is with us in our love.....it is with us in our happiest moments...... it gets us through misery and pain.....it is played in glory and praise.....sing when we are happy...we sing when we are sad....Music is the way we express ourself...is the way we feel....Music is who we are......

Music is life.....life is music..... a deceptively simple maxim.....now lets imagine a world without music.......it is difficult lets give it a shot.........
One day you get up and u find that u can no more njoy music......now lets work on the implications.....

now the first thing that I can think of as student is that I wont b able to sit in front of my lapi for this long without it......Indian movies without songs are like...like dustbin without trash......(couldnt think of a better xample....) music is wat makes the difference between the one clicks and the one which nose dives on boxoffice.......

the loss of music will effect some deeply.....these will be those who njoy love songs.....till the nyt before this....they use to sing and hum when they were about to meet someone...but now what will they do.....wat can they possibly do.......(its so sad.......)...when we r takin of love then breakups cant b left out.....now even the breakups are incomplete without some gud sad music......(luk at the irony gud sad music...!!)

u cant deny that music is a very important part of us growing up.....sleeping to our first lullaby....(best part of childhood)....humming love songs for ur first crush.......singing in the bathroom...........playing antakshari with your frnds.........(khelta velta kuch nahi...dusri team ki bandi pe line marta hai..!!) listening to love songs when in ur first true love.......(oh i almost forgot........college...i cant miss that one.....sing in chorus with a gang of frnds when on a holiday trip....)....after that comes the night of your marriage.....(happy or sad woh to baad main pata chalega...)...or dancing at one of your frnd's marriage procession.....(may b meetin a cute gal...bla bla bla.....the fantasy of every single guy........)...then after that music is more like a soothing balm to alleviate day to day miseries.....it is more about serious stuff........
after this phase comes the phase where u search for peace in music u listen......ppl often turn to devotional music in later stages of their life......

now i think it myt b easy to imagine a world without music.........A world without music is like a painting without color.....a computer without a mouse.....a mosquito repellent without a refill.......a toilet without a flush......a phone without ne balance.....trousers without a zip.......a game without rules...........a black without a white......a body without soul......So the moral of the story is LYF IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT MUSIC.....and the day i was not talkin about is as far away as the Soap "Kyunki Saas..." is from its conclusion.....so njoy music......jus put ur hands in the air and move your body...shake ur arse.......just move your body....don't be shy my honey......:)) GO CRAZZZZZZY.....
